Miami Beach is not only about night clubs…

…beach and expensive cars…

Come and discover the real Miami Beach, beyond clichés… Surprisingly, it took me a while to dedicate a post to Miami Beach…
I already shared some pictures and good addresses about other places in Miami, Coconut Grove, Wynwood Arty District, Design District… Miami Beach is doubtless the most famous area in Miami, but it is also the most smeared with clichés.

I wanted to really know the place before writing about it. Miami Beach is a city by itself, separated from Miami. Miami Beach enjoys an amazing shoreline while Miami is continental. It is a long strip of land made of a group of islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay.

If you watched Dexter TV show (I’m a big fan), you must have seen some scenes with big noisy cars driving on an even noisier Ocean Drive on Saturday nights with loud Cuban music. That’s indeed an aspect of Miami Beach life. But there is far more to discover! Just have a walk around and you will enjoy The Art Deco District: here is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. It’s definitively worth a visit. I love the pastel colors everywhere which create such a special atmosphere in the magic Floridian Sun.

Lincoln Road is a pedestrian walkway filled with shopping spots. It is a touristic venue, no doubt about it. Anyway, I like to walk around and go shopping outdoors… which is really not common in Miami, where there are much more air conditioned indoor malls. Just try to go there on a early morning, it’s far more pleasant!

The other indisputable asset of Miami Beach is the ocean: the water here is amazing, pure turquoise blue and almost white sand. In particular South Point Beach, at the very south of Miami Beach, is an awesome place, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view from the Pier. Some days you could imagine you are in the Bahamas… until you turn your head and see Art Deco buildings…!

I’m sharing here some of my favorite shots in Miami Beach, I hope this will make you want to discover this place which is much more than just the clichés  displayed on TV…

I would love to know more about your feelings about Miami. Are the pictures shown here surprising you compared with the Expert soap clichés?
